Hi Skybirds! My name is Peter Nyamoko Mamburi.

I am a water, sanitation and hygiene, WASH expert with over 14 years of experience in integrated WASH programmes in humanitarian, transitional and developmental contexts. I hold an undergraduate degree in water and environmental engineering and a Master’s degree in Project planning and management. Currently finalizing my research dissertation for a Master’s degree in Water and Environmental Management.

I have joined the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, IFRC as the Regional WASH Coordinator for the African Region. Looking forward to working with all of you to further the integrated, sustainable and climate-resilient WASH programming.

Household latrine coverage and use was one of the key gaps we identified while working in the refugee camps in Maban in South Sudan. To address this, we distributed latrine slabs and plastic sheets at the household level while the beneficiaries were to provide labour for pit digging and construction. During monitoring, one household had decided to use the latrine slab as a “slide gate “.
