Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) Moroto branch implemented the Skybird Micro Project themed around water supply, hygiene and sanitation promotion where the key activities were: motorization to solar power of a broken-down hand pump and connection to water points, construction of a public latrine, sanitation promotion and supporting households to use Circular Lined pits using granary technology to reinforce walls …

The Skybird WASH Network organized an online session on January 25, 2024 with a title “Solar Energy Solutions for Water Supply – The Skybird-RCRC Experience”
In the session, three guest speakers from ERCS and URCS shared their experiences in implementing the following solar powered water supply projects:
Sintayehu Bekele, Ethiopian Red Cross Society volunteer from South Omo Zone Water, Mine & Energy Department – ERCS South Omo branch Skybird Micro Project - Solar-powered water pumping system.
Ballam Oyugi, WASH Supervisor for Uganda Red Cross Society - URCS Moroto branch Skybird Micro Project - Borehole solarization water pumping system in Matany Town Council
Sylvester Bett, Austrian Red Cross Country Representative for Uganda - Solarization of Kit 5batch system (Kit 5 is one of the RCRC WASH kits used for deployment of WASH emergency response action).
