Behailu Woldegiorgis have joined the Austrian Red Cross, Ethiopia delegation in the capacity of program and PMER manager starting on August 21, 2023. He commenced his new duty with a blood donation at the ERCS compound, like he has done in the past.

Behailu is a senior specialist and leader in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL), or PMER in RCRC movement nomenclature. He is a trained public health professional with over 18 years of experience in public health, monitoring, and evaluation of initiatives in the public sector and non-governmental organizations in Ethiopia and South Sudan in various capacities. His career began in the Ethiopian Ministry of Health as a freelance consultant with various INGOs and UN implementing partners as a national-level capacity-building expert primarily in the areas of HIV, TB, STI, and IMNCI and monitoring and evaluation of their services.

Behailu has fully devoted his MEAL career to program design and metric development since 2012. During his tenure, Behailu worked as a regional MEAL advisor, senior data use and learning advisor, MEAL specialist, and learning and data quality manager for Tufts University, ICAP South Sudan and Ethiopia, Save the Children International, Jhpiego, and Management Science for Health (MSH), among others.

Behailu holds Master of Public Health (MPH), Bachelor of Science in Public Health, and certifications from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in DHIS2 design and customization and nutrition in a changing global environment. In addition, he attended dozens of formal training courses pertaining to his area of expertise.
